Time For a Shameless Plug

I can’t help myself. I was spending time on Linkedin because, well, when you’re self-published you NEED to spend lots of time on the social networks.

I digress.

I was reminded, when someone mentioned the Hero’s Journey, of an essay that I wrote in college. It’s a discussion of Monomyth in a story by H.P. Lovecraft. I chose Lovecraft because he’s wonderful. He’s classic. And he’s very, very, very genre. That’s important to me because I’m a genre writer. It matters to me because all through my schooling, I tended to hear my instructors talk down about genre writing. It might be good, but it wasn’t “true literature”. An amusing thought, considering that one of the novels of literature I read in college was Dracula, but again, I digress.

Here’s a link to The Power of Monomyth: HP Lovecraft and “The Thing on the Doorstep”
