This is simple. Don’t depend on an editor to revise your work. They will, but that isn’t the point. When you write, read over it. Make sure scenes and days are consistent. If your character wakes up in the morning and puts on a white shirt, make sure he doesn’t spill his coffee on a blue shirt at breakfast.
Essentially, go through your story, page by page and scene by scene and make sure that it makes sense and follows the rules laid out.
|Technical Writing Rules on Revision:
Revise every document. When you write your draft, edit it and make sure that your grammar and spelling are correct and that you have included everything. When you have completed usability testing, apply the feedback from the tests to making corrections to the document.
I can’t really say anything more without turning revision into redundancy.
